Hello my AD 648 classmates!

My name is Kathy Park. I live in Bayside, New York. I have lived in this area since 1997.

I have been working in banking industry for almost seven years now. I am currently working as a Compliance Analyst at Alma Bank in Long Island City, New York. I went to Binghamton University, one of the State Universities in New York and I got my Bachelors of Science degree in Financial Economics.

I am taking my 'first' class, "E-Commerce" for my Masters of Science degree in Banking and Financial Services Management. It is such a big challenge for me to start working and studying at the same time. It will require a lot of commitment and patience for me to get this through. Since this is my very first class from the Boston University, I would appreciate your feedbacks and stories of taking this program.

My goal for this class is to have myself more updated with rapidly growing business and markets over the Internet and to be able to design a website on my own. At the same time, I expect to get familiar with this online education system in general and to become friends with my classmates.

I am so excited to start this class with you guys and I will do my best be your diligent classmate. I will go meet you guys through your blogs. Nice to meet you guys! :)

  1. Hi Kathy,

It is nice to meet you. I am fairly new to distance education as well, this is only my 4th class. My biggest recommendation would be to make sure you allow yourself a few hours a week as "me" time that is not spent working or studying. Personally, I find a visit with friends or going out for dinner and a movie to be just the thing I need sometimes to recharge my batteries. I found in my first class that I was spending all my time on work and school with other time spent eating and sleeping that I got very burnt out around week 3-4. !

I like your color scheme for the page. The Pastel yellow and pinks are very complementary and calming while also being cheerful. I would suggest that you make the Title of the Blog in larger font size and a bolder color maybe a darker pink?

Personally, while working on my blog, I found it fun to play around with different font, color, sizes, and layouts and only saving once I liked what I saw. I look forward to seeing how your blog develops as you play around with things.

    1. Hi Lisa,

I will make my effort to balance my life working, studying and enjoying at the same time! Thank you for your suggestion! :)

I just changed the font size and the color of my title just like you suggested. I find too many pink on my blogger so I chose green this time. I agree with you that it is fun playing around with different options and adding stuff on my blog.

I will see you again on your blog tomorrow.
      Have a great weekend! :)

  2. Hi Kathy,

This is also my first course for my master's. Here's to 11 more! I love the "pretty in pink" background. You have met a good amount of criteria so far, ie. multiple entries, privacy settings, the side bar, photos, gadgets, working with different colors/layouts. I would suggest adding links to your blog as this is a minimum requirement. Maybe you have another website or you could link some sites that you enjoy visiting and want to share with classmates.

Look forward to working with you!

    Kate

See you again on your blog tomorrow!

    Have a good weekend :)

  4. Hello Kathy,

I have a feeling that I find myself in the candy world! It so welcoming , cozy and sweet here ! Nice to meet you and welcome aboard! As for new starters, you and Kate, I wish you be patient , reorganize your day and dont get upset ! My very first professor( R. Warburton) told me:" It doest matter how you start, matters how you finish."

I would like to suggest you to add some gadgets or pictures on your left side, it looks so lonely and empty.

  5. Hi Alfia,

Haha Candy World! I like it. Thank you for your comments!
I will make sure to be patient and be organized as I go through this program. :)

Just like you suggested, I tried to add the 'Blog Archive' and 'Subscribe To' on the left side.

  7. Hi Kathy,

Great post. The first feeling I got when I clicked on your link and your blog popped up was one of bringing home a brand new baby girl. You know how when parents paint the room pink and they are all bubbly and excited? It brings a lot of warmeth. Your color choices are very inviting. I do agree with Alfia that your left side could use a few items to give the blog a balanced feel to it. I am finding that to be one of my difficulties that I am trying to work out. Good luck in the class! Let me know if you have any questions.

  9. Hey Kathy. I have always had the desire of learning how to play a musical instrument, I played the flute as a kid, haven't played for a while now, but I would absolutely love to learn the piano. I work in New York City, I also lived there for a while. Maybe we could meet up for a beginner's lesson. Your blog is wholly tasteful, I admire its general outlook and the effort you put into detailing. Quite frankly, your blog works just well for me.

    1. Hi,

Yes, I think knowing how to play a musical instrument is a good life investment! I used to play the flute for my high school band as well. Thank you for your compliment on my blog! :)

    1. Hi Stan,

Thank you for your compliment! The baby is so adorable right? :) I think the countries in the Caribbean is the best location to fly away from New York for vacations! I wish I can be there, especially in this cold weather. Thank you for visiting my blog! :)

  14. Hi Kathy!
Very nice to meet you. I love the pictures that you showed. My fiance and I are actually planning on going to Italy for our honeymoon. How was your experience? Any suggestions? I have this predisclosed opinion of Italy in my head. Hopefully it lives up the hype.

Just one suggestion I would make, is that you have alot of gadgets. Maybe I would limit them to the ones that enhance your blog. I know for me sometimes I get sidetracked and lose out from reading the material. Otherwise great job. I love the pink background. Adds a girly touch that is missing the world of football playoffs! :)

    1. H Rachel,

It is nice to meet you and be in the same team for our 2nd assignment!

I am sure that you will love traveling in Italy. If you are planning to go to Italy only, I think one week should be enough. Or if you would like to go to other countries around Italy, I would suggest to plan your trip for 2-3 weeks. My husband and I booked our flight and hotel through Expedia and they always have great deals on a daily basis. You might want to check the website frequently. Summer is pretty hot in Italy, therefore, you might want to consider going sometime in the Spring and Fall.

I will get to talk to you at our 2nd conference call, which is scheduled for Tuesday night.

      Talk to you soon! :)
